What is LEED Certification?
The voluntary LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification system was originally developed by the U.S. Green Building Council but is now employed internationally. The system defines uniform standards for high-performance eco-friendly buildings. The benefits of such buildings reach beyond sustainability, for they are typically also healthier and more economical to run.
In order to become LEED accredited, a construction professional must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of integrated design. Certification is only granted after passing an intensive exam, focusing on LEED requirements, processes, resources and the application of eco-friendly construction practices.
